Charles Barkley Calls Conservatives "Fake Christians"

He also says Conservatives make him sick to his stomach. Oh, and he plans to run for governor of Alabama. Good luck with that.

What's that saying about a woman scorned? Poor Charles wasn't worthy enough to be in Michael Jordan's shadow, that's why he's so salty. What kind of loser wants to be in his Fav 5 anyway?

Here's a brief clip of madam Charles:

U.S. To Shoot Down Falling Spy Satellite

It's a good idea. We surely do not want the satellite landing somewhere not favorable to the United States. Blow it up before it enters the atmosphere and the smaller pieces will probably burn up in re-entry.

The Pentagon is planning to shoot down a broken spy satellite expected to hit the Earth in early March, The Associated Press has learned.

U.S. officials said Thursday that the option preferred by the Bush administration will be to fire a missile from a U.S. Navy cruiser, and shoot down the satellite before it enters Earth's atmosphere.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because the options will not be publicly discussed until a later Pentagon briefing.

The disabled satellite is expected to hit the Earth the first week of March. Officials said the Navy would likely shoot it down before then, using a special missile modified for the task.

Spokesman For Toledo Mayor Receives 15 Day Suspension

The mayors' spokesman, Brian Schwartz, receives a needed vacation. 15 days off without pay. I would take that in a heartbeat if it meant not having to fabricate excuses for the mayors' idiocy.

Toledo Mayor Carty Finkbeiner's spokesman was dealt a three-week suspension yesterday for vulgar comments spoken to a Detroit radio station producer and negative comments to a Blade columnist in the aftermath of the "Carty vs. Marines" controversy that has gripped the Finkbeiner administration.

Brian Schwartz, who has been the mayor's spokesman since June, 2006, and is paid about $80,000 annually, was suspended for 15 workdays without pay for reportedly using a vulgarity while speaking off air to a producer for WJR-AM, 760.

"What he said was unacceptable," said Bob Reinbolt, the mayor's chief of staff, who ordered the suspension.

Mr. Schwartz was talking to a producer on Monday about the possibility of the mayor appearing on a show to address his last-minute order to cancel a Marine Corps weekend-long urban warfare exercise in downtown Toledo and in some abandoned buildings.

Quote of the year given by Mr. Schwartz:

...Mr. Schwartz told a Blade columnist "It sucks to be me"...

Indeed it does Mr. Schwartz. Indeed it does.

Semper Fi Act Shut Down By Anonymous Hold

It's the Democrats pandering to their base. They would rather support the filthy skanks of Code Pink over the United States Marine Corps.

Another item I find interesting, is the $243,000 for gourmet organic school lunches for Berkeley students. Schools all over the country are having trouble providing basic services, and here the federal government is wasting $243,000 for gourmet student lunches.

Sen. Jim DeMint press release

February 13th, 2008 - Washington, D.C. - U.S. Senator Jim DeMint (R-South Carolina) made the following statement in response to the decision by the City Council of Berkeley, California not to apologize to the Marine Corps and their families and reaffirming their support for radical anti-war protestors to “impede” military recruiters from conducting their work.

Senator DeMint introduced the Semper Fi Act to rescind over $2 million in hidden earmarks for Berkeley, California in the Fiscal Year 2008 Omnibus Appropriations bill, and transfer the funds to the Marine Corps. Until yesterday, Senate Democrat leaders used parliamentary maneuvers to block consideration of the bill. Last night, Republicans asked to pass the Semper Fi Act by unanimous consent after no Republican member opposed its passage, but Democrats have placed an anonymous hold on the bill.

“It’s a national embarrassment that these officials refuse to apologize to our troops and their families and continue to support actions against military recruitment. It’s time for Berkeley to realize that actions have consequences,” said Senator DeMint. “Americans across the nation are outraged at Berkeley’s insult to our troops who have fought and died for their ability to live in freedom. It’s truly heartening to hear the outpouring of support for the Marine Corps in South Carolina and throughout the nation.”

Berkeley City Council members voted to rescind a letter to the Marine Corps recruitment office asking them to leave town, but left in place a provision that encourages “all people to avoid cooperation with the Marine Corps recruiting station, and applaud residents and organizations such as Code Pink” that “impede, passively or actively” the work of military recruiters. Berkeley also voted against a formal apology to the Marine Corps and will still allow Code Pink a special parking space in front of the recruitment office to conduct weekly protests.

“Let’s be clear, it’s not a question of the sincerity of anyone on either side of this issue. However, some of the hateful rhetoric and official actions against the Marine Corps that have come out of Berkeley has had real consequences on our troops, their families, and our recruiting,” said Senator DeMint.

The bill is cosponsored by 10 senators including Republican leaders Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky) and John Cornyn (R-Texas). U.S. Congressman John Campbell (R-California) introduced a companion bill in the House of Representatives and now has 71 cosponsors, including Republican leaders John Boehner (R-Ohio), Roy Blunt (R-Missouri), and nine other members of the California delegation.

“In Saddam Hussein's Iraq or the Taliban’s Afghanistan, such opposition would not be allowed a voice at all. But thankfully we live in a free democracy under the protection of our brave Marines. Protestors have the right to vocally insult our troops but patriotic Americans also have the right to seek a democratic response to discourage activities that actively impede the legitimate functions of our military.”

“I will continue to work with my Senate colleagues to stop the special taxpayer favors Berkeley has received through unnecessary earmarks,” said Senator DeMint.

One Berkeley earmark provides $243,000 in taxpayer dollars for the organization Chez Panisse to create gourmet organic school lunches in the Berkeley School District. Another earmark would spend $975,000 in taxpayer dollars for the University of California, to create a new endowment and cataloging the papers of Congressman Robert Matsui. U.C. Berkeley already has a $3.5 billion endowment.

The same guy who refuses to wear an American Flag pin because it's a "substitute for patriotism" and refuses to hold his hand over his heart during the National Anthem, allows staffers in his Houston office to display the Cuban Flag with a picture of communist Che Guevara emblazoned on it. All you Obama-maniacs, just keep voting for him, idiots.

Operation Phantom Phoenix: Iraqi Army frees 2 kidnap victims, CF kills 3 AQI, detains 7

TIKRIT, Iraq – The Iraqi Army found two kidnap victims and Coalition Forces killed three al-Qaeda in Iraq operatives and detained seven suspected AQI during Operation Blackhawk Thrasher near Qubah, approximately four miles northeast of Zaganiyah, Iraq, Feb. 7. This is part of the countrywide Operation Phantom Phoenix.

During the joint operation, which involved the Iraqi Army, Iraqi Police and Soldiers from 2nd Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, Coalition Forces detained seven suspected AQI during village clearing operations. One AQI was killed by an Air Weapons Team and two more were killed in a firefight with CF in palm groves directly west of Qubah.

One hour after the firefight, Iraqi Army Soldiers discovered the two kidnapped victims approximately 1 km away in the same palm grove. CF officials believe the kidnappers fled the area and left the victims when they heard CF helicopters, and then were killed in the process of fleeing.

The victims had been kidnapped three days prior in Zaganiyah, and said they were beaten and tortured by their captors. The liberated prisoners identified the enemy killed in action as the people who had kidnapped and tortured them.

Coalition disrupts insurgent networks in central Iraq, four suspects detained

BAGHDAD, Iraq – Coalition forces detained four suspected terrorists, including a suspected Special Groups leader, during operations Friday and today to disrupt insurgent networks operating in central Iraq.

Information gained from previous operations led Coalition forces to conduct a precision engagement north of Baqouba Friday. During an operation Tuesday, Coalition forces identified a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device hidden in an orchard.

The location is reportedly associated with the al-Qaeda in Iraq suicide bombing network operating throughout the Diyala River Valley region. Coalition forces directed a precision airstrike on the vehicle, destroying it. Secondary explosions erupted following the strike, indicating explosive materials were inside.

Southwest of Mahmudiya today, Coalition forces detained two suspected terrorists including an alleged associate of an al-Qaeda in Iraq senior leader for the southern belt network. Reports indicate the suspect is actively engaged in terrorist operations and uses his position within the local police to navigate checkpoints and avoid being searched.

The network is operating in a degraded state after recent Coalition force success against its leadership, to include the detention of the network’s deputy leader Jan. 10 and the death of three additional leaders during an airstrike Dec. 27. Also, Coalition forces destroyed a cache of weapons and a vehicle found in the target area to prevent further use for terrorist activities.

Also Friday, during an operation east of Baghdad, Coalition forces captured an alleged Special Groups criminal element leader and detained one other suspected criminal.

BAGHDAD, Iraq – Coalition forces detained 11 suspected terrorists during operations today to disrupt insurgent networks operating in northern Iraq.

During a series of operations southeast of Bayji today, Coalition forces captured two wanted individuals and detained three additional suspects. One of the wanted individuals is an alleged leader of an al-Qaeda in Iraq assassination group in Hawijah. The suspect is believed to be a close associate of several members of the AQI network operating in the Kirkuk province, including another wanted individual who was captured at a nearby location. The second suspect is reportedly a close associate of the AQI leader responsible for facilitating finances for terrorist operations within the Kirkuk network.

Northwest of Mosul today, Coalition forces captured an alleged senior level facilitator for northern Iraq AQI networks. Reports indicate the suspect holds routine terrorist meetings and maintains a weapons cache at his residence. Also, the suspect allegedly arranges for hostages to be held at local mosques while awaiting ransom. Five suspected terrorists were detained in addition to the wanted individual.

Al-Qaeda in Diyala disrupted, house-borne improvised explosive devices destroyed; four killed, 10 detained

BAGHDAD, Iraq – Coalition forces killed four terrorists and detained 10 suspects during operations Monday through Wednesday to disrupt al-Qaeda networks operating in Diyala province.

Intelligence from previous operations led Coalition forces to an area in Diyala where al-Qaeda in Iraq networks reportedly moved, seeking safe haven after successful Iraqi and Coalition operations pushed them out of the Muqdadiya area. Numerous reports indicate members of these networks are associated with al-Qaeda in Iraq leaders operating in Tikrit, Tarmiyah and Baghdad. The network is allegedly responsible for an increase in suicide attacks in the Diyala River Valley and the construction of house-borne improvised explosive devices, anti-aircraft activity and false checkpoints. The region also serves as a key logistics pipeline for terrorists, supplies and information.

During the multi-day operation Coalition forces discovered 13 HBIEDs and seven weapons caches, including 300 anti-aircraft rounds, and improvised explosive device-making materials, including 80 bottles of ammonium chloride, various bags of ammonium nitrate, sulfur and polyethylene, and jugs of homemade explosives.

Monday, Coalition forces received small-arms and sniper fire from several locations. The ground force returned fire in self-defense and called for supporting aircraft to engage, killing four terrorists. An Iraqi civilian was caught in the cross fire and wounded. The individual received immediate medical care before being evacuated to a military medical facility. Two suspected terrorists were detained by Coalition forces during Monday’s operations.

During the following two days, Coalition forces encountered 19 structures believed to be HBIEDs. Coalition forces safely destroyed the buildings through a series of kinetic airstrikes with numerous secondary explosions confirming the presence of HBIEDs. The ground force detained an additional eight suspected terrorists during the multi-day operation.

BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan – Afghan National Police from Shkin, assisted by Coalition forces, arrested three men suspected of facilitating improvised explosive device operations near the Pakistan border in the Bermel District of Paktika Province, Afghanistan, Feb. 6.  Shkin ANP also discovered three IEDs on a frequently traveled road near the village of Kakakhel on the same day.

The ANP officers were conducting a night patrol in the district when they spotted a vehicle moving slowly. Officers stopped the vehicle and questioned the men inside.  ANP officers noticed that the occupants seemed extremely nervous, so they decided to search the vehicle.  Officers found two rocket-propelled grenades, two mortars and blasting caps concealed in hidden compartments.

A local villager alerted Shkin ANP officers of suspicious materials near a bridge in Kakakhel.  The officers found three IEDs, each consisting of a 107 mm rocket and an anti-tank mine.  The munitions were covered by dirt and placed in the roadway near a family home.  ANP officers inspected and determined the devices were set to explode and could have killed anyone passing along that portion of the roadway.

ANP officers evacuated residents living near the IED, and then destroyed the device, making the roadway safe for travelers in the area.
