Iran Worried About Syria's Air Defense Failure; IAF Strike

Iran should be worried. This air defense system they keep boasting about was completely useless when Israeli jets bombed a Syrian weapons cache (nuclear and/or conventional). Israel was, for the most part, able to fly all over Syria with ease. The Syrians had no idea anything was going on until the bombs fell. Iran uses and is purchasing more of the same air defense system Syria uses. With all the failures you would think it was made in China, but no, they are from Russia.

Iran is concerned over the failure of Syria's air defense systems to detect the Israel Air Force non-stealth aircraft that reportedly carried out an attack inside Syria last month, the American weekly Aviation Week reported on its Web site on Wednesday.

According to the report, Israel was able to disrupt Syria's radar and air defense systems and render them ineffective during the IAF strike. The Web site reported that Israel used an electronic device, installed in a plane that circled the area, to disrupt Syria's defenses.

The weekly maintained that Iran is especially concerned over the failure of Syria's Russian-made radar systems. Iran has used similar systems in the past, and is slated to purchase more radar equipment in a future deal worth $750 million. This equipment is apparently designated to protect Iran's nuclear facilities against attacks from the air.

According to the report, Israel used highly advanced equipment to jam Syria's defenses, similar to the equipment used in the U.S., which can completely black out a radar system, thus neutralizing the defense missile systems which rely on it.

Operation Anchorage nets five suspected insurgents, stops VBIED

FOB FALCON, Iraq — Coalition Forces detained five suspected insurgents and destroyed a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device with two joint direct attack munitions Sept. 30 during Operation Anchorage, east of FOB Falcon.

Paratroopers of the 1st Squadron, 40th Cavalry Regiment along with several Iraqi army soldiers conducted a night air assault raid here in the early morning hours. The detainees are suspected to be involved with attacks conducted on an IA checkpoint, said Capt. Donald Braman, commander, Troop B.

The Iraqi troops detained the suspects after finding an AK-47 with four fully loaded magazines, a shotgun, more than 500 meters of command wire, IED-making electronic components and anti-Iraqi forces propaganda in the house where the suspects were found.

The raid also netted a five-ton white bongo truck in the process of being rigged as a VBIED. An explosives-detecting K-9 reacted to explosive residue on the vehicle. An F-16 was called in and struck the truck with a JDAM.

Braman said the IA soldiers are among the elite, and impressed him during this operation. The IA was the main effort responsible for clearing the targeted buildings believed to have been used by high value al-Qaeda leaders as safehouses.

Oakland Spits On Soldiers Returning From Iraq

That's what a Navy chaplain said it felt like in regards to their treatment by Oakland airport employees. The behavior by these employees is unacceptable, and they should be fired, but they won't. I'm sure they are being heralded as heroes by the lowly knaves on that side of the United States.

Here is that Navy chaplain's email:

Marines and Soldiers Returning from Iraq not allowed into Oakland terminal On September 27th 204 Marines and soldiers who were returning from Iraq were not allowed into the passenger terminal at Oakland International Airport. Instead they had to deplane about 400 yards away from the terminal where the extra baggage trailers were located.

This was the last scheduled stop for fuel and food prior to flying to Hawaii where both were based. The trip started in Kuwait on September 26th with a rigorous search of checked and carry on baggage by US Customs. All baggage was x-rayed with a "backscatter" machine AND each bag was completely emptied and hand searched. After being searched, checked bags were marked and immediately placed in a secure container. Carry on bags were then x rayed again to ensure no contraband items were taken on the plane. While waiting for the bus to the airport, all personnel were in quarantined in a fenced area and were not allowed to leave.

The first stop for fuel/food and crew change was in Leipzig Germany. Troops exited the aircraft and took a bus to a reception area in the terminal, where there was a convenience store, phones, Internet and restrooms. As we exited the bus we were given a re-boarding  pass. Three troops remained on the plane with the rifles and pistols. There was no ammunition on the plane and the bolts of the rifles had been removed. After about 2 hours troops re-boarded the plane and flew to JFK in NY.

At JFK the procedure was similar to Germany, 3 troops stayed on the plane to guard weapons while the rest deplaned. At the gate we were each given a re-boarding pass and spent about 1.5 hours in the terminal, at which time we re-boarded and flew to Oakland.

As we came in for the final approach to Oakland a Lieutenant who served in Afghanistan with the same unit in 2006 mentioned how when they landed in Oakland they were not allowed in the terminal. He said, "they made us get out by the FED EX building and we had to sit out there for 3 hours". He also indicated he was almost arrested by the TSA for getting belligerent about them not letting the Marines into the terminal.

Well the same thing happened again. This time we did not park by the FED EX building, instead we were offloaded near the grass that separates the active runway from the taxi ramp, about 400 yards from the terminal. When we inquired why they wouldn't allow us in the airport they gave us some lame excuse that we hadn't been screened by TSA. While true, the screening which we did have was much more thorough than any TSA search and was done by US Customs. Additionally, JFK didn't seem to have a problem with our entering their terminal, nor did security in Germany.

It felt like being spit on. Every Marine and soldier felt the message loud and clear, "YOU ARE NOT WELCOME IN OAKLAND!"

The airports response, "the airport did not receive clear communication in advance".

Brilliant response. Hopefully; the governments response is to cut off any FAA funding.

Illegals In LA Costs Taxpayers $35m Per Month In Welfare Alone

Yeah, you read that right. Illegal immigrants in LA county costs the state of California's taxpayers $35 million per month in welfare and foodstamps. Include healthcare and public safety, and it's over $1 billion per year.

LA County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich has announced that a new report shows illegal aliens and their families in Los Angeles County collected over $35 million in welfare and food stamp allocations in July.

In the report, illegals are said to have collected nearly $20 million in welfare assistance for July 2007 and an additional $15 million in monthly food stamp allocations for an estimated annual cost of $440 million.

“Illegal immigration continues to have a devastating impact on Los Angeles County taxpayers,”said Antonovich.  “In addition to $220 million for public safety and $400 million for healthcare, the $440 million in welfare allocations bring the total cost to County taxpayers that exceeds $1 billion a year -- this does not include the skyrocketing cost of education.”

Duncan Hunter Requests American Flag At Debate; Request Denied

A bunch of bumbling idiots who threw together a Republican presidential debate forgot to include an American flag on the set. Duncan Hunter requested the flag and it was denied. The All-American presidential campaign was without an American flag. Hopefully; this is the last debate organized by these morons.

Republican front-runners weren't the only things missing from the presidential debate stage. The American flag was AWOL, too.

The backdrop to the "All-American Presidential Forum," brought to you by Tavis Smiley and PBS, was a map of the United States, superimposed with a checkerboard of multicultural faces.

Rep. Duncan Hunter of California, one of the presidential hopefuls, asked debate organizers to get Old Glory up there, too, according to Chris Cavey, first vice chairman of the state GOP.

Cavey was acting as an escort for another candidate, Tom Tancredo of Colorado, and heard Hunter's request over his earpiece about half an hour before the show began.

"Escorts were wired. I heard [in the earpiece], 'Congressman Hunter is requesting a flag on stage,'" Cavey said.

Request denied.
