Yeah, right. Last time I checked, Christians were not decapitating people because of their religion. This letter is more like, "stop attacking us when we kill Christians, and submit to Islam".

More than 130 Muslim scholars from around the globe called on Thursday for peace and understanding between Islam and Christianity, saying "the very survival of the world itself is perhaps at stake". In an unprecedented letter to Pope Benedict and other Christian leaders, 138 Muslim scholars said finding common ground between the world's biggest faiths was not simply a matter for polite dialogue between religious leaders. "If Muslims and Christians are not at peace, the world cannot be at peace. With the terrible weaponry of the modern world; with Muslims and Christians intertwined everywhere as never before, no side can unilaterally win a conflict between more than half of the world's inhabitants," the scholars wrote. "Our common future is at stake. The very survival of the world itself is perhaps at stake," they wrote, adding that Islam and Christianity already agreed that love of God and neighbor were the two most important commandments of their faiths.

Surprise! It's not a woman this time. A man flirting with a married woman was shot and had his penis severed. All you naysayers thought there wasn't equal rights in Muslim culture.

A Turkish man who flirted with another man's wife has died after having his penis cut off. The victim, who has been described only as being 58 years old, was shot at point-blank range in the middle of the street. He then had his manhood severed with a knife, and was left to bleed to death. Two teams of surgeons worked at the scene to save the man but were unable to revive him, authorities said. Regional Head Of Crime Investigations Franz Polzer said the cause of the attack had been jealousy, describing the motivation as a "question of honor". Investigators believe the suspect apparently was jealous that the younger man had flirted with his wife. A 76-year-old man, also of Turkish origin, was arrested shortly after the attack. The suspect initially fled into a nearby house after the slaying, but witnesses alerted police to his location and he walked out and surrendered.

First off, we have China shedding tears over the United States issuing a Congressional Gold Medal to the Dalai Lama. According to the ChiCom, the Dalai Lama supports "cults". To bad for you ChiCom, you keep trying to kill American citizens and their pets with your tainted products.

China has complained to the United States over a decision to award exiled Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama a U.S. Congressional Gold Medal, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman said on Thursday. The Dalai Lama, who fled to India after a failed uprising against Chinese Communist rule of Tibet in 1959, is branded by China as a "separatist". The Nobel Peace Prize winner says he only wants greater autonomy for the predominately Buddhist Himalayan region. "The Chinese government strongly opposes the U.S. Congress giving the Dalai Lama a so-called award," spokesman Liu Jianchao told a regular news briefing. "We strongly oppose any country or person who uses the Dalai Lama to interfere in China's internal affairs. We have already made solemn representations about this to the U.S. side."

 

Next we have the United Nations. While it is commonplace to file everything from the U.N. under "who gives a crap what you think", I will be more specific. They want Blackwater USA brought up on war crimes. Blackwater made the huge of mistake of returning fire during an ambush in Iraq. Had they just gunned down some innocent Christians, all would be well for them. Unfortunately; they defended themselves against terrorists, and that's a big no-no.

The United Nations wants probes to determine whether private security contractors in Iraq have committed war crimes and for governments to ensure that the rule of law is applied, U.N. officials said on Thursday. The killing of 17 Iraqis in a shooting involving U.S. security firm Blackwater last month has created tensions between Baghdad and Washington and sparked calls for tighter controls on private contractors, who are immune from prosecution in Iraq. Ivana Vuco, the U.N.'s senior human rights officer in Iraq, told a news conference that private security contractors were still subject to international humanitarian law and that meant there were specific consequences for any breach. "Investigations as to whether or not crimes against humanity, war crimes, are being committed and obviously the consequences of that is something that we will be paying attention to and advocating for," she told a news conference.

Another high school shooting, another worthless individual that should've just killed themselves first. What happened to the day when people used to just commit suicide? It's seems that every lunatic who felt they weren't loved enough/too many people picked on them/girlfriend or boyfriend broke up with them, feels the need to go out in a blaze of glory and kill other people just because their feelings were hurt.

Four people have been shot at SuccessTech Academy at 1440 Lakeside Avenue in Cleveland. (Listen to the 911 calls) The shooter, 14-year-old Asa Coon, is dead. He is believed to have turned his gun on himself after shooting four other people. He had two guns, a bag of ammunition and three knives, police said. The victims were two men ages 57 and 42; and two boys ages 17 and 14. A 14-year-old girl hurt her knee leaving the building but was not shot. All the children are in good condition and the two adults' conditions were "slightly elevated," according to Mayor Frank Jackson. Iraqi Army captures four suspected insurgents

FORWARD OPERATING BASE LOYALTY, Iraq – Soldiers with the 4th Brigade, 1st Iraqi Army Division captured four suspected insurgents during a patrol in the New Baghdad District of the Iraqi capital Oct. 8. Iraqi Soldiers observed the four suspects in a car acting suspiciously, leading to a search of the vehicle. The search led to the recovery of a rifle and three videos of attacks on Coalition Forces.   All four suspects are being held for further questioning.

 

Operation nets 10, destroys two booby-trapped houses

FORWARD OPERATING BASE KALSU, Iraq – Two booby-trapped houses were destroyed and 10 suspected insurgents were detained during an operation in Adwaniyah Oct. 9. Soldiers of Troop B, 1st Squadron, 40th Cavalry Regiment, were conducting operations targeting an insurgent cell responsible for emplacing improvised explosive devices. During the operation, Soldiers found two empty houses that were wired with explosives. They vacated the area clearing it of civilians and requested air and artillery support. Once the area was cleared, the homes were destroyed with two Hellfire missiles fired from attack helicopters and two 155mm Excalibur artillery rounds from Battery B, 1st Battalion, 9th Field Artillery Regiment.

 

Coalition forces disrupt al-Qaeda operations in the Diyala River Valley

BAGHDAD, Iraq– Coalition Forces killed an estimated 37 terrorists, detained 25 suspects and found several weapons caches during an operation Oct. 4-7 targeting al-Qaeda in Iraq safe havens in the Diyala River Valley. During the four-day operation, Coalition forces had numerous contacts with enemy personnel. In several of these engagements, the actions resulted from terrorists firing on ground forces, enemy personnel conducting surveillance activities on Coalition force positions, individuals attempting to unearth weapons caches, and individuals setting up mortar firing devices. On Friday and Saturday, the ground force discovered two separate weapons caches which were safely destroyed at their locations. The caches included numerous weapons, ammunition, sniper-rifle parts, grenades, mines, blasting caps, mortar systems, anti-tank weapons, rocket propelled grenade launchers and improvised explosive device-making materials. While patrolling the area Sunday, Coalition forces discovered an IED with a command wire coming from a mosque. Civilians in the vicinity reported that the mosque was frequently used by al-Qaeda in Iraq for meetings. Due to the threat, the ground force needed to enter the mosque to secure the area. They removed the IED from the mosque and it was safely destroyed. Also on Sunday, supporting aircraft destroyed a river crossing site to prevent further use by al-Qaeda in Iraq. Surveillance elements indicated that the crossing site had been constructed by al-Qaeda in Iraq to transport terrorists, equipment and weapons across the Diyala River to conduct attacks.  During the multiple-day operation, additional air strikes destroyed five al-Qaeda in Iraq safe houses. One of the buildings was identified as a location used to command and control enemy reconnaissance on Coalition forces’ locations. Nearby, supporting aircraft destroyed a dump truck reportedly used to transport enemy weapons.

 

Iraqi Forces, U.S. Special Forces detained 11 suspected terrorists, kill one

BAGHDAD – Iraqi Forces, with U.S. Special Forces as advisers, detained 11 suspected terrorists and killed one during three separate operations in Sinjar and Baghdad Oct. 8. During one operation, Iraqi Security Forces and Iraqi Army Soldiers detained 6 suspected insurgents while targeting terrorists in a village near Bi’aj, who are believed to be linked to the al-Qaeda in Iraq network in Sinjar. The targeted village, Marzoog Halaltair, is suspected of housing al-Qaeda in Iraq operatives who are responsible for weapons dealing, making vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices and facilitating terrorists’ travel throughout small insurgent villages located in western Ninewa Province. Two weapons caches, consisting of 1000 14.3mm anti-aircraft rounds, an antiaircraft gun tripod, 10 anti-tank mines, 1,000 feet of electrical wire, 2,000 feet of copper wire, 11 blasting caps, 10 feet of detonation cord, a three-gallon bag of magnesium turnings, five 60mm artillery rounds, one 120mm artillery round, 10 boxes of PKC ammunition, five pounds of home-made explosives, one 30-liter oxygen bottle, one Mauser pistol, one PKC, eight rocket-propelled grenade propellants, and a suicide vest were destroyed in a controlled detonation. In Baghdad, Iraqi Army Scouts detained five suspected insurgents in the Askan neighborhood. The terrorist group, which has been using a local school as a safe haven, allegedly facilitates weapons trafficking, murders innocent civilians residing in the local area and attacks Iraqi and Coalition Forces using mortars, rockets and IEDs. In a separate Baghdad raid, Iraqi Special Operations Forces targeted a terrorist cell that is responsible for conducting IED attacks and kidnappings against the Iraqi Police and the IA. During the operation, one of the terrorists struggled and assaulted a Soldier as he was being detained. Responding to the threat, the forces engaged the terrorist, killing him. One sniper scope with an amplifier adapter, three cell phones and a pistol belt were seized during the operation. No Iraqi or U.S. Forces were injured during these operations.

 

Large ammunition cache recovered in Zabul Province

BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan – Afghan National Security Forces, along with Coalition forces, discovered and confiscated a major ammunition cache in the Qalat District, Zabul Province, Oct. 8. The ANSF-led force executed this operation after receiving credible intelligence of a weapon cache located in a compound just outside of the city limits.  The ANSF moved to the suspected area where they found and recovered the ammunition cache. The cache, consisting of 100 rocket propelled grenade rounds, 6,400 PKM rounds and over 150,000 AK-47 rounds, was hidden in a compound in the surrounding area of Jarollah village.  According to the ANSF, the ammunition was in brand new condition.

Coalition forces kill six terrorists attempting to emplace an IED

BAGHDAD, Iraq – Coalition forces conducted an air strike to disrupt al-Qaeda in Iraq operations in Mosul Monday evening, killing six terrorists. Surveillance elements positively identified a group of six men attempting to emplace an improvised explosive device in a road and called for supporting aircraft to attack the time sensitive target.  Supporting aircraft engaged, killing four of the six terrorists at the site where they were attempting to emplace the IED. The other two were killed as they attempted to flee the scene.

 

Iraqi Security Forces, U.S. Special Operations Forces detain six in northern Iraq

BALAD, Iraq – Iraqi Security Forces, with U.S. Special Operations Forces as advisers, detained six suspected terrorists Oct. 8 in two night-time raids in northern Iraq. Iraqi Special Operations Forces raided four target objectives in the Ninewa Province and detained a suspected al Qaeda in Iraq Emir believed to be the approving authority for the appointment of many of Mosul’s terrorist cell leaders. Additionally, the suspected Emir is directly linked to a Sept. 26 vehicle-borne improvised explosive device attack against a Mosul courthouse.  One other suspected terrorist linked to the Emir was detained during the raid.  A weapons cache containing a rocket-propelled grenade launcher, a RPG sight, two RPG armor piercing rounds, two RPG high-explosive rounds, four RPG boosters, and 10 ski masks was discovered at the targeted location.  Because of the size of the cache, the items were moved to a remote location and destroyed in a controlled detonation. Near Taji, Iraqi Army Scouts detained four suspected members of the Abu Ghazwan al-Qaeda in Iraq terrorist network which are involved in vehicle-borne improvised explosive device, IED, and small arms attacks against Coalition Forces.  These terrorists are directly linked to Abu Bakr who was detained by the Iraqi Army Scouts during a series of helicopter assault raids near Taji Sept. 16 and was second in command of the Abu Ghazwan’s network.

 

Improvised explosive device-making cache destroyed

FORWARD OPERATING BASE KALSU, Iraq – In continued efforts to degrade enemy resources, a large weapons cache of materials used in the production of improvised explosive devices was destroyed in Arab Jabour Oct. 6. Soldiers of Company A, 1st Battalion, 30th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, were conducting a patrol when they discovered the materials in a palm grove. Soldiers located an anti-tank mine, four rocket-propelled grenade launchers, six 60mm mortars and fuses. Additional IED making materials -including all necessary materials to produce multiple IEDs - were also discovered. An explosive ordnance disposal team was called in and destroyed the cache in a controlled detonation.

 

 Coalition forces kill nine terrorists; detain 21 suspects

BAGHDAD, Iraq – Coalition forces killed nine terrorists and detained 21 suspects during operations Monday and Tuesday to disrupt al-Qaeda in Iraq networks operating in central and northern parts of the country. South of Baghdad, Coalition forces conducted an operation targeting an associate of al-Qaeda in Iraq operating in the southern belt. The targeted individual is reportedly responsible for providing guidance on operations against Coalition forces. Upon arriving to the target area, the ground force was engaged by an armed individual throwing a grenade.  Responding in self-defense, Coalition forces returned fire and observed several individuals maneuvering from the target area. The ground force called for supporting aircraft to engage the fleeing men, killing three terrorists. Eight suspected terrorists were also detained during the operation. In an operation south of Mahmudiyah, Coalition forces targeted an associate of al-Qaeda in Iraq believed to be a military leader in Yusufiyah. Reports also indicate he is responsible for coordinating the movement of foreign terrorists and suicide bombers for attacks against Coalition forces. Upon arrival to the target area, the ground force discovered three armed individuals in a field. Coalition forces called for the individuals to come out from their location, but they did not comply. Perceiving a hostile threat, the ground force engaged, killing two of the three armed terrorists. The third armed man fled the area and was engaged and killed by supporting aircraft. One of the terrorists killed was wearing a military-style assault vest. The ground force also discovered grenades and blasting caps which were safely destroyed on site. As Coalition forces continued to secure the area, they encountered an individual armed with several grenades. Responding in self-defense, the ground force engaged and killed him. In addition, one suspected terrorist was detained during the operation.  Near Bayji, Coalition forces captured an associate of al-Qaeda in Iraq believed to be involved in weapons facilitation and providing false documentation to facilitate travel for senior terrorist leaders. In addition to the targeted individual, the ground force detained four other suspected terrorists on site without incident. Farther north in Mosul, Coalition forces detained three suspected terrorists while targeting an associate of al-Qaeda in Iraq believed to be responsible for security for the terrorist network in the city. Reports also indicate that the targeted individual is involved in kidnapping operations in the area. Coalition forces captured another wanted individual during an operation west of Samarra. The suspect is alleged to be a leader of a Sunni extremist group affiliated with al-Qaeda in Iraq and is involved in kidnappings and improvised explosive device production. Intelligence reports indicated that the target area was used as a weapons cache site. In addition to the targeted individual, the ground force detained three other suspects.  South of Samarra Monday, Coalition forces conducted a precision operation targeting associates of al-Qaeda in Iraq alleged to have ties to senior terrorist leaders. Acting on time-sensitive intelligence, Coalition forces pinpointed the exact location of the wanted individuals and supporting aircraft engaged, killing two terrorists.

Once Again, Ohio Welcomes Terrorists With Open Arms

With all the terrorists that the idiots in Columbus keep inviting/hiring here, I'm starting to think I would be safer in Iraq. Members of Hamas have been invited to an "Interfaith" conference in Columbus. "The Many Faces of Islam" conference is being coordinated by none other than Abukar Arman. Arman has terrorist ties and was appointed to a panel that oversees the Ohio Homeland Security Division. He was later forced to resign from that panel.

The Ohio State Capitol in Columbus will be the setting for a curious convocation later this month when it hosts an event featuring several well-known Islamic extremists as part of an “interfaith” conference entitled, “The Many Faces of Islam”. The conference, which is to be held in the atrium of the Statehouse on Sunday, October 28th, will feature two well-known speakers with multiple connections to the HAMAS international terrorist organization, a host of convicted terrorist leaders, and colleagues who fled the US to avoid prosecution on terrorism-related charges. The event is sponsored by the Interfaith Association of Central Ohio. One of the featured speakers at the conference will be Anisa Abd El Fattah, the chair of the National Association of Muslim American Women based in Columbus. Fattah is best known for co-authoring two books with current HAMAS spokesman Ahmed Yousef, The Agent: The Truth Behind the Anti-Muslim Campaign in America and Al-Aqsa Intifada. Yousef fled the US in 2005 to avoid prosecution in the Fawaz Damra terrorist support trial and reappeared in Gaza as the official spokesman for HAMAS, a position he still holds. One recent report in Asharq Alawsat described Fattah’s co-author Yousef as “The Smiling Face of HAMAS”. President Clinton identified HAMAS as a Specially Designated Terrorist Organization in a January 1995 executive order. Both Yousef and Fattah worked together at the United Association for Studies and Research (UASR), where Fattah served respectively as both president and director of public affairs. Yousef and Fattah also co-edited the UASR’s quarterly publication, the Middle East Affairs Journal. As UASR director of public affairs, Fattah issued a press statement in March 2004 condemning the assassination of HAMAS founder Sheikh Yassin and saying that Yassin, who had ordered numerous suicide bombings targeting civilians and was responsible for the death of hundreds of innocent men, women and children, was a man of peace. UASR was founded in 1989 by Mousa abu Mazook, who currently serves as the Deputy Chief of the HAMAS political bureau in Damascus, Syria, and has been listed as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist by the US government in 1995. According to a February 1993 New York Times article, convicted HAMAS terrorist operative and former UASR employee, Mohammed Salah, told federal authorities that UASR served as “the political command of HAMAS in the United States”. Another 2004 report by investigative journalist Scott Wheeler, “Alleged Terrorist Threat Operates in DC Suburb”, describes multiple ties between UASR and al-Qaeda. This past May, UASR was named as unindicted co-conspirator by federal prosecutors in the current Holy Land Foundation terror financing trial. During the trial, FBI agent Lara Burns testified that UASR was part of the Muslim Brotherhood’s Palestine Committee in America. A 1991 Palestine Committee document introduced as evidence shows that the head of UASR, a position Fattah previously held, was a part of the Central Committee, and states that UASR was “the official organization which represents the media and the cultural aspects to support the cause [HAMAS]. The recording of that history of Islamic work for Palestine and providing a frame for media, political and cultural address is done through it.”

Coalition Forces detain three suspected special group terrorists

BAGHDAD – Coalition Forces from the 2nd Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division detained three terrorists associated with the Iranian-backed Special Groups Militia during a pre-dawn raid in Sadr City Oct. 6. The individuals detained during the raid are believed to be members of the Special Groups Militia network known for kidnapping, facilitating the transport of weapons and explosively-formed penetrators from Iran to Iraq, as well as bringing militants from Iraq into Iran for military training. No shots were fired by Coalition Forces during this precision raid. The three insurgents captured are believed to be responsible for the kidnapping of five British contractors in Baghdad May 29.

 

Coalition forces kill one terrorist, detain nine suspects

BAGHDAD, Iraq – Coalition forces killed one terrorist and detained nine suspects during operations Saturday and Sunday to disrupt al-Qaeda in Iraq networks operating in central and northern parts of the country. Coalition forces conducted an operation Sunday in Mosul targeting an associate of al-Qaeda in Iraq believed to be responsible for fuel distribution to the city’s terrorist network. As the ground force prepared to depart the target area, they were engaged by small arms fire and a suicide car bomber driving toward them. Responding to the hostile threat, the ground force engaged the armed man driving the vehicle in self defense, killing him. The vehicle caught fire and continued to move toward Coalition forces, but caused no damage or injuries. In Baghdad, Coalition forces captured a wanted individual reported to be involved in the planning and execution of numerous attacks against Iraqi civilians and security forces. The individual also has close ties to al-Qaeda in Iraq senior leaders operating a car-bombing network throughout Baghdad. Intelligence led the ground force to a location where the wanted individual and one other suspected terrorist were detained without incident. Upon initial questioning, the wanted individual agreed to lead Coalition forces to the location of an al-Qaeda in Iraq senior leader in the car-bombing network. At the follow-on location, the ground force observed a man in the building’s window brandish a rifle. Perceiving a hostile threat, Coalition forces engaged and the man was wounded. After securing the area, the assault force learned that the armed man was not involved in the terrorist network and he was treated on site and transported to a nearby military medical center. In an operation in Tikrit, Coalition forces targeted an associate of al-Qaeda in Iraq believed to be involved in kidnapping operations, weapons facilitation and the development of improvised explosive devices. The ground force detained five suspected terrorists on site without incident. West of Samarra Saturday, Coalition forces conducted a precision operation targeting an associate of an al-Qaeda in Iraq leader involved in foreign terrorist facilitation in the Tigris River Valley. Time-sensitive intelligence led the ground force to a location where two suspected terrorists were detained.

 

Operation Eagle Shiloh III results in detention of 17 suspected terrorists

CAMP STRIKER, Iraq – Coalition and Iraqi forces detained 17 suspected terrorists during a combat operation in Mahmudiyah, Iraq, Oct. 6. Soldiers from Battery A, 2nd Battalion, 15th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry) out of Fort Drum, N.Y., and the 4th Brigade, 6th Iraqi Army Division conducted Operation Eagle Shiloh III to capture an enemy 120mm mortar cell in the Said Abdulla Corridor, west of Mahmudiyah. The mortar cell has been wanted for launching indirect fire attacks indiscriminately into the city. Wanting to surprise terrorists, Soldiers air assaulted into the village and searched houses in the area. While searching the houses, Soldiers detained 17 suspected terrorists and seized two AK-47s.

 

ISF, USSOF destroy explosive production facility; kill five following suicide-vest attack

BALAD, Iraq – In two separate operations Oct. 6, Iraqi Security Forces, with U.S. Special Operations Forces as advisers, destroyed a homemade explosive production facility near Fallujah and killed five insurgents after a suicide-vest attack in Baghdad. Iraqi Special Operations Forces conducted an early-morning raid to detain an al Qaeda in Iraq Amir for the Arab Jabour area who is suspected of being involved in small-arms fire, deeply buried and vehicle-borne improvised explosive device attacks, as well as extra-judicial killings. While the assault force went in pursuit of two fleeing insurgents, one of the insurgents detonated a suicide-vest killing himself and another insurgent.  Two U.S. Special Forces Soldiers received minor shrapnel wounds and have returned to duty. During the assault five enemy insurgents were killed in a small-arms firefight.  One insurgent was wounded and taken into custody with six other suspected insurgents. In an earlier operation, Iraqi Security Forces conducted an intelligence-driven helicopter raid on a known HME production facility, detaining one suspected insurgent, southeast of Lake Thar Thar. While clearing the buildings located near Fallujah, the assault force discovered multiple types of rounds and weapons.  The detained insurgent tested positive for nitrates and explosives residue on his hands.  Additionally, multiple rolls of plastic film which had obviously been used for drying explosives, was identified.  There were scattered piles of HME throughout the film and some scattered HME outside the targeted building.  Because of the instability of the HME, close air support was called in to destroy the building with a well-aimed proportionate fire.  No civilians, U.S. or Iraqi Forces were injured during the raid or destruction of the building.

 

Coalition forces target Special Groups member; five killed, three detained

BAGHDAD, Iraq – Coalition forces killed five gunmen and detained three suspected Special Groups members early Monday in Eastern Baghdad during an operation conducted to assist in the local reconciliation efforts. Coalition forces were targeting an individual reported to be a long-time Special Groups commander with close ties to numerous senior members of the organization. Intelligence reports also indicate he has ties to the current kidnapping network and is involved in directing recent explosively formed penetrator, or EFPs, and improvised explosive device attacks in the area.  Intelligence sources led the ground force to an area reported to be the location of the targeted individual. Upon arrival, the ground force received sustained small arms fire and, responding in self-defense, engaged the enemy, killing four gunmen and wounding three.  In addition, three suspects were detained on-site without incident. After departing from the target, the ground force observed one criminal attempting to emplace an IED. Coalition forces fired warning shots in attempt to cease the individual’s activity, but he refused to comply. Perceiving hostile intent, the ground force engaged, killing him.

 

Iraqi Forces, U.S. Special Operations Forces dismantle terrorist cells, kill one insurgent

BALAD, Iraq – During three separate operations Oct. 7, Iraqi Security Forces, with U.S. Special Operations Forces as advisers, detained 14 suspected terrorists and killed one insurgent throughout Iraq. Iraqi Special Operations Forces detained a key al-Qaeda in Iraq cell leader, a second cousin to the former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, during an intelligence driven raid in northern Mosul. The suspected cell leader is believed to be heavily involved with transporting money and equipment from Syria to terrorist cells in the Mosul area. He is also believed to be involved with sniper attacks, as well as improvised explosive device and vehicle-borne IED attacks against Coalition Forces and Iraqi Police. He is directly linked to a VBIED attack Sept. 28 that resulted in a destroyed bridge overpass.  The assault force detained two suspected cell members and seized an AK-47 assault rifle with associated ammunition, a safe, passports, ledgers, blank identification cards, video tapes and a computer. In the Wasit Province, Iraqi Security Forces detained ten suspected terrorists and killed one insurgent during a targeted raid for a terrorist cell believed to be linked to multiple IED attacks, as well as explosively formed projectile and direct fire attacks against Coalition Forces in the Zubadiyah area.  The group is allegedly responsible for an Aug. 23 EFP attack on an Iraqi and U.S. Special Forces patrol that killed two Soldiers and wounded three more. Additionally, intelligence reports indicate that the terrorists have been meeting with members of the al-Qaeda in Iraq criminal network to plan future attacks. During the operation, one insurgent was killed by close air support fire as he was attempting to ambush the assault force. Near Fallujah, Iraqi Army Scouts detained a leader of an al-Qaeda in Iraq affiliated IED cell during an early morning raid in the village of Nasser Wa Salaam. The targeted individual is allegedly responsible for the manufacturing of IEDs and VBIEDs as part of his insurgent cell. He is also thought to be responsible for attacking Iraqi Army personnel and a recent attempted abduction of a local national interpreter.

 

Afghan, Coalition forces kill 20 militants in Helmand Province

BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan – Approximately 20 anti-Coalition militants were killed early this morning in Helmand Province during an Afghan and Coalition forces operation to deter hostile activities in the area.  Acting on credible intelligence sources, Afghan and Coalition forces made their way to Reeg District where extremist forces were hiding. During the course of operations, the combined force came under attack by anti-Coalition militants using automatic and small-arms weapons.  Precision munitions and small-arms fire were used to suppress the attacks, killing more than 20 combatants.

 

Suspected militants detained in Paktia Province

BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan – Afghan and Coalition forces detained four suspected militants in an operation early today in an effort to degrade extremist activities in the region. Acting on credible intelligence, the combined force proceeded to compounds in the Gardez District of Paktia Province where the suspected anti-coalition militants were hiding. After conducting a search of the compounds, they found and detained four individuals with suspected ties to extremist forces. The detainees will be questioned as to their involvement in extremist activities.

Ah, Finally Some Joy In Being An Indians Fan

I don't want to hear anything about jumping on the bandwagon. I was at Cleveland Municipal Stadium with about 4,000 other die-hard Indians fans when they were losing 100 games a year. We did have that short moment of success in the mid and late 90's. Then it was all rebuilding after GM John Hart traded away all the minor league talent in an attempt at a World Series championship. It almost worked until Charles Nagy gave up the winning run and we lost the World Series.

Now it appears we have a contender.

Joe Borowski threw the final strike and the Cleveland Indians ran onto the infield to start the celebration. Alex Rodriguez, one leg on the top step of the New York Yankees dugout, stared straight ahead. The Indians were on their way to an AL championship series matchup with the Boston Red Sox. The Yankees were braced for a showdown with their boss, one that could cost Joe Torre his job. Believe it, Indians fans. Grady Sizemore homered to put Cleveland ahead for good on the third pitch of the game, then Paul Byrd and the bullpen closed out New York 6-4 in Game 4 Monday night to complete the third straight first-round debacle for the Yankees.

Iraqi Special Operations Forces, U.S. Special Forces detain extremist company commander

BAGHDAD – Iraqi Special Operations Forces, advised by U.S. Special Forces, detained a suspected extremist company commander Oct. 5 in Al-Khalis. The extremist commander and his group are allegedly responsible for sectarian violence against Sunni citizens to include a 20-man attack on a Sunni-inhabited region known as Arab Danan, Jul. 7 and 8.  The group allegedly removed all Sunni citizens, then burned and destroyed their homes and farms. Additionally, the company commander and three other men are suspected of ambushing a Sunni citizen driving a van Jul. 2.  It is alleged that the commander shot and killed the driver and then his group threw the man in the Tigris River. The assault force confiscated a medium-sized machine gun with 300 rounds, two AK-47 assault rifles with two magazines and one homemade zip-gun during a raid.  One other suspicious individual was detained.

 

Six terrorists killed, 18 suspects detained in Coalition forces operations

BAGHDAD, Iraq – Coalition forces killed six terrorists and detained 18 suspects Saturday while conducting operations targeting al-Qaeda in Iraq in the northern and central parts of the country.  Coalition forces conducted an operation south of Baghdad targeting an associate of al-Qaeda in Iraq believed to be involved in foreign terrorist and weapons facilitation. Upon arriving to the area, surveillance elements observed four armed men maneuvering from the target building. Perceiving hostile intent, Coalition forces engaged the men, killing them. All four terrorists were wearing military-style assault vests and had rifles and grenades in their possession. The ground force safely destroyed the weapons on site. Three suspected terrorists were also detained during the course of operations. Also in Baghdad, Coalition forces targeted an associate of al-Qaeda in Iraq senior leaders who is reportedly involved in the capital city’s car-bombing network. Two suspects were detained without incident. Coalition forces killed two terrorists, captured one wanted individual and detained another six suspects during two coordinated operations near Samarra. The wanted individual is believed to be an associate of several Syrian-based network leaders that support the flow of foreign terrorists. As Coalition forces approached the target area, they observed one individual jump from the roof of a building, attempting to evade capture. The ground force engaged the fleeing terrorist, killing him. As the ground force entered the building, they discovered an armed terrorist and, responding in self-defense, killed the armed man. In addition to the wanted individual, Coalition forces detained five suspected terrorists on site. Also in Samarra, intelligence reports led Coalition forces to an area alleged to be a terrorist safe haven; one suspected terrorist was detained. Coalition forces captured two wanted individuals and four suspected terrorists during coordinated operations in Kirkuk. During one operation, Coalition forces captured an al-Qaeda in Iraq senior leader believed to be involved in foreign terrorist facilitation in the al-Tamim province and detained four additional suspects. Nearby, the ground force captured the alleged leader of the al-Qaeda in Iraq media network in Kirkuk. The suspect is believed to have numerous ties to senior leaders operating in the province.

 

Soldiers in eastern Baghdad capture 3 insurgents, discover and destroy deadly EFPs

FORWARD OPERATING BASE LOYALTY, Iraq – Soldiers with the 2nd InfantryBrigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division detained three insurgents in two separate raids and discovered four explosively-formed penetrators in eastern Baghdad Oct. 6. Soldiers with Company B, 2nd Battalion, 16th Infantry Regiment, detained two insurgents in a raid following a tip. A third insurgent was captured in another raid conducted by Soldiers of Company A, 2nd Combined Arms Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment. The four EFPs were found on a route clearance mission by Soldiers of Company A, 2-2 Special Troops Battalion. The EFPs were destroyed in a controlled detonation by explosive ordnance disposal personnel.

 

SEVERAL MILITANTS KILLED IN PAKTIKA PROVINCE

BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan – Several anti-Coalition militants were killed by Afghan and Coalition Forces early this morning in Paktika Province during an operation to disrupt extremist activities in the area.  Credible intelligence sources indicated violent extremist forces were hiding in  Waza Khawa District.  The combined force made their way to compounds in the district to conduct a search of the premises. During the course of operations, the combined force came under attack from militants in one of the suspect buildings.

Coalition forces target Special Groups member, kill 25 terrorists

BAGHDAD – Coalition forces were engaged in a heavy firefight Friday morning, killing an estimated 25 criminals during operations west of Baqubah.  Coalition forces were targeting a Special Groups commander believed to be associated with members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard – Quds Force.  Intelligence indicates that he was responsible for facilitating criminal activity and is involved in the movement of various weapons from Iran to Baghdad. Upon entering the target area, Coalition forces received heavy fire from a group of armed men fighting from defensive positions.  Responding in self-defense, the ground force returned fire. Enemy fire intensified and supporting aircraft were called in an attempt to suppress the threat.  The armed group continued to engage, and began to aggressively maneuver toward Coalition forces, firing assault rifles and rocket-propelled grenades.  The ground force also observed one armed individual carrying what appeared to be an anti-aircraft weapon into a nearby building.  Perceiving hostile intent, supporting aircraft engaged, killing an estimated 25 criminals and destroying two buildings.

 

Iraqi Security Forces kill foreign fighter near Salman Pak

FORWARD OPERATING BASE HAMMER, Iraq – Iraqi policemen from the 1st Brigade, 1st National Police Division killed a foreign fighter from Yemen Sept. 27 southwest of Salman Pak. This is the first confirmation of foreign fighters operating in areas patrolled by 3rd Heavy Brigade Combat Team Soldiers or their Iraqi counterparts. The Yemenese-born fighter, Abu Muhammad Al-Yameni, was armed with a PKC machine gun and grenades at the time of his death.  Soldiers from the 3rd HBCT work daily with policemen from the 1-1 NP to secure Salman Pak and its surrounding communities. The Mada’in Qada is a portion of the Baghdad Province just east of Baghdad.  The 3rd HBCT has been working with various Iraqi Security Forces since their deployment to the Qada in March 2007.

 

Coalition forces target foreign terrorist facilitators: 12 killed, four detained

BAGHDAD, Iraq – Coalition forces killed 12 terrorists and detained four suspects Friday while conducting operations targeting al-Qaeda in Iraq in the northern and central parts of the country.  Coalition forces conducted an operation in Baghdad targeting an associate of al-Qaeda in Iraq senior leaders. When the ground force arrived in the target area, they observed a group of armed men on the roof of a building. Coalition forces called the buildings’ occupants to come out, and the individuals on the roof began to reach for their weapons. Coalition forces again issued verbal warnings and the men did not comply. Perceiving a hostile threat, the ground force engaged the armed men, killing seven terrorists. Surveillance elements led Coalition forces to a follow-on location, where they detained a suspect who left the target building prior to the engagement. Also in Baghdad, Coalition forces captured one wanted individual while conducting an operation to further disrupt the greater Baghdad foreign terrorist facilitation network. The suspect is allegedly the courier for the southern belt and is involved in facilitating finances to support terrorist operations in the region. Near Yusufiyah, Coalition forces killed four terrorists, including an associate of al-Qaeda in Iraq believed to be a foreign terrorist facilitator in the southern belt. The wanted terrorist was also alleged to have close ties to Abu Usama al-Tunisi, the former emir of the region who was killed during an operation Sept. 25. As Coalition forces approached the target area, they observed four armed men, two of whom were wearing military-style assault vests, maneuver away from the target building.  Perceiving hostile intent, Coalition forces engaged, killing them. In addition to the military-style assault vests, the ground force discovered several rifles, grenades and a backpack with explosive material.  Coalition forces killed one terrorist in Kirkuk while targeting an alleged al-Qaeda in Iraq foreign terrorist facilitator operating in the al Tamim province. When Coalition forces called for the target buildings’ occupants to come out, three men fled the building refusing to comply with instructions. Perceiving hostile intent, the ground forces engaged, killing one terrorist. One of the individuals was followed to a nearby house, where the owner identified him and he was detained. In Samarra, Coalition forces conducted an operation to deny sanctuary to al-Qaeda in Iraq and captured a wanted terrorist who identified himself to the ground force.

 

Ground, helicopters team to kill 3 extremists during raid

FORWARD OPERATING BASE HAMMER, Iraq – Attack helicopter pilots, supporting Soldiers from Company A, 1st Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment, killed three extremists and wounded two others during an air assault into a suspected enemy sanctuary the night of Oct. 3 near Al-Bawi. Soldiers from Company A conducted the raid to disrupt insurgent activity along the Tigris River north of Salman Pak. An attack aviation element from the 1st Battalion, 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade provided aerial support with two AH-64 Apaches, while the 4th Battalion, 3rd CAB provided helicopters to move the Company A Soldiers to their target. While Company A Soldiers were clearing three groups of houses, pilots from 1-3rd CAB identified five armed individuals moving toward the Company A Soldiers. The 1-3rd CAB pilots were able to kill three during their initial engagement and the Company A Soldiers later detained two individuals. Iraqi Army seizes weapons, IED materials

BAGHDAD – Iraqi Army reconnaissance troops acted on a tip from residents and uncovered a cache of weapons, explosives and ammunition in East Rashid Oct. 1. Soldiers from the 3rd Battalion, 1st Brigade 3rd Iraqi Army Division, found the cache inside an East Rashid building, hidden behind two false walls.  The Iraqi troops seized 12 rocket-propelled grenade motors, 18 PG-7s, one Type 69 RPG, three OG-7s, four RKG-3 grenades, one HEAT rifle grenade, 21 high-explosive rifle grenades, eight hand grenades, two 60mm mortar tubes, three RPG launchers, 33 60mm mortar rounds, two 57mm projectiles, one 81mm mortar, two 105mm projectiles, two 105mm HEAT projectiles and two 57mm S5K rockets. They also found 30 feet of detonation cord, 10 mortar fuses, six electric blasting caps, 19  grenade fuses, seven sticks of PE-4, 15 pounds of homemade explosive, 10 liters of unknown chemicals, seven PKC pipes, seven rocket launchers, one PPSH machine gun, eight medium ammunition packs, one PKC, four AK-47s, one RPK, two 40-pound bags of 7.62mm ammunition, three PKC ammunition belts, four ammunition belt pouches, two flak vests, two Kevlar helmets, and four AK-47 magazines. The contents of the find included many materials used in the construction of IEDs.  The cache was taken to Forward Operating Base Falcon for disposal.

 

Coalition forces kill one terrorist, detain eight suspects

BAGHDAD, Iraq – Coalition forces killed one terrorist and detained eight suspects Wednesday and Thursday while conducting operations targeting al-Qaeda in Iraq in the northern and central parts of the country.  During operations in the Diyala River Valley Thursday, Coalition forces received small arms fire from a nearby mosque. Responding to the hostile threat, the ground force returned fire, killing one terrorist. Coalition forces ceased fire and called for the building's occupants to come out. Two armed individuals emerged with their hands up and were detained, and another individual fled the area. At this time, it is assessed that the mosque suffered no damage. Coalition forces detained four suspected terrorists in Samarra while targeting al-Qaeda in Iraq associates. Intelligence reports indicate that the target area is known for being a safe haven for al-Qaeda in Iraq senior leaders and foreign terrorists.  South of Baghdad, Coalition forces conducted an operation targeting an associate of al-Qaeda in Iraq believed to be a leader in the city with ties to the car-bombing network. During the operation, the ground force destroyed one building to prevent further use by terrorists. A secondary explosion erupted from the site, indicating explosives were stored inside. One suspect was also detained during the operation. Coalition forces conducted an operation in Hawija Wednesday, targeting an associate of al-Qaeda in Iraq believed to be a leader in the media network in the al Tamim province with ties to foreign terrorists operating in the area. One suspect was detained on site.

 

Iraqi Army Scouts, U.S. Special Forces detain five, kill two

BAGHDAD – Iraqi Army Scouts, with U.S. Special Forces as advisers, detained five and killed two suspected al Qaeda in Iraq terrorists during an early morning raid Oct. 3 near Balad.  During the initial moments of the raid, the assault force encountered a suspected terrorist who approached their position with an AK-47 assault rifle; he did not heed verbal warnings and was wounded.  The terrorist was evacuated by helicopter to the Combat Support Hospital in Balad where he later died of his wounds. As the forces held their position during the raid, another suspected terrorist approached with an AK-47 assault rifle prepared to fire; he also ignored verbal warnings and was killed. The assault force completed the raid detaining five suspected terrorists linked to recent sectarian violence in the Balad area.  The terrorist’s recent operations allegedly include the destruction of some bridges that lead into the area to limit freedom of movement of Iraqi and Coalition Forces. Additionally, the terrorists are linked to a July 27 complex attack that included two vehicle-born improvised explosive devices driven into checkpoints followed by coordinated gun fire after the initial explosions.  More recently, they are linked to a VBIED attack on a checkpoint that killed four Iraqi Army soldiers and wounded an additional 10. Two grenades and 19 sticks of dynamite were found during the raid and were destroyed in place with a controlled detonation.

 

Iraqi Security Forces kill three al-Qaeda terrorists outside of Tikrit

TIKRIT, Iraq – Iraqi Security Forces, acting swiftly on tips from local Iraqi sources, killed three known terrorists after conducting a raid in the al-Jazeera desert, 15 miles east of Tikrit, Sept. 30. Soldiers from 1st Brigade, 4th Iraqi Army Division and Iraqi policemen from the Emergency Response Unit in Tikrit, killed the three known al-Qaeda terrorists and captured four more. The operation started after a tip from a local Iraqi identified a small village in the al-Jazeera desert as an al-Qaeda training camp.  ISF conducted a unilateral operation under the provincial police chief’s command, and were able to capture 10 explosive belts, 10 artillery rounds, and various other communication devices.

 

Iraqi Forces, U.S. Special Forces detain al-Qaeda financier, one other

BAGHDAD – Iraqi forces, with U.S. Special Forces as advisers, detained two individuals believed to be linked to the al-Qaeda in Iraq criminal network Oct. 2, near Baghdad.  During one of the operations, Soldiers from the 6th Iraqi Army Division detained a suspected al-Qaeda financier in Kindi.  The extremist financier is suspected of traveling to foreign countries to acquire financial support for terrorist activities and is suspected of supplying more than $50,000 to al-Qaeda each month.  He is believed to have received $100,000,000 this summer from terrorist supporters who cross the Iraq border illegally or fly into Iraq from Italy, Syria and Egypt.   The terrorist is linked to financing cells in Doura, Tarmiyah and Baqubah, and uses a leather merchant business as a front to smuggle weapons and explosives from surrounding countries.  Intelligence shows he has stores in Fallujah, Syria and Jordan. He allegedly employs 40 to 50 extremists who help deliver and emplace improvised explosive devices to attack Iraqi and Coalition Forces.  The group allegedly pays cell members $3,000 for each operation.    The financier is additionally linked to purchasing explosives and weapons that were used to destroy the dome of the sacred “Golden Mosque” in 2006 and then re-attacking it in 2007.  In April, the suspected terrorist allegedly shot at a Coalition patrol in Al-Mansour, killing three U.S. service members and wounding one.  During a separate operation, Iraqi Special Operations Forces detained a suspected al-Qaeda platoon leader Oct. 2 in Radwaniyah. The extremist commands 15 men to attack Iraqi and Coalition Forces with IEDs and direct firefights.  In April, the leader and his group emplaced and detonated an IED along the main highway in Radwaniyah, injuring several Iraqi Army Soldiers and destroying a tactical vehicle.  In May, the group attacked an Iraqi Army traffic control point and killed several Soldiers during the firefight.

Oh happy day. The supposedly greatest team in the whole in the whole wide universe according to some, lost to an unranked team. USC renowned buttboy, ESPN's Mark May, should be on the verge of suicide.

In what's been the year of the upset in college football, Stanford's stunner just might top them all. Tavita Pritchard threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Mark Bradford on fourth-and-goal with 49 seconds remaining Saturday night, giving the 41-point underdog Cardinal a 24-23 victory over No. 2 Southern California. A leaping Bradford caught the ball over cornerback Mozique McCurtis in the corner of the end zone, leaving the crowd of 85,125 at the Los Angeles Coliseum in stunned silence. Bo McNally's interception thwarted USC's final chance. In a season that started with Appalachian State's improbable victory over Michigan at the Big House, and a week after half the top 10 went down, the Cardinal are now the upset kings -- at least for now. The way things have been going, that could change next week.
